Hey! I’m Paige. I have endured the journey of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Lots of people have but I think mine is quite an interesting one.

It started 6 years ago in second grade. A girl threw some woodchips at me and yelled. It caught me off guard so I fell. It almost opened up the front of my shin because I landed on the edge of the sidewalk. I didn’t shed 1 tear

My high spirits and strong will made me not think that it was anything more than a little cut but it turned out that it was a broken ankle. I walked on this foot for 8weeks before knowing it was broken. My mom nor dad knew it was broken until I had a checkup before school started.

I had the hot pink beautiful cast for 4 weeks but my ankle and knee were still swollen when the cast came off. I soon had several joints that were affected. I would wake up in the morning and just really not be able to move or walk. Every other week the doctors had something new they thought was causing my problems.

After months and months of trying to figure out what I had, they finally did a blood test and found out that my ANA was positive and my RH factor was high. At the children’s hospital, they did a bone scan that showed both ankles, left knee and my left hip were affected.

I have learned that there are many different kinds of arthritis. I am very thankful the type I have is manageable. I am a cheerleader and soccer player today. I love my doctors and how they have helped me. I am now on methotrexate and I love how it helps me. I move for all of the children and adults with ANY type of arthritis.

Good day and God bless
