Meet Others Like You

Find your tribe of kids and teens who understand you.

The Arthritis Foundation offers many opportunities to meet other kids with arthritis who are facing the same challenges. Some of the events offered include:

  • JA Camps. The Arthritis Foundation’s JA camps give kids with arthritis and related conditions the traditional camp experience (swimming, campfires, arts and crafts, water sports, hikes, horseback riding, zip lines and much more). For many campers, it’s the first time they’ve met other kids who live with the same challenges and limitations. There are some 50 JA camps across the country. The camps vary by location, name, dates and the activities they offer. But all provide a safe and encouraging environment, and all are led by trained staff and volunteers.
  • JA Conference. Each year, the Arthritis Foundation hosts a national conference for families across the country. Conferences include special educational sessions for both parents and children, as well as fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. There are plenty of opportunities to meet new people and build lasting friendships with kids who are going through the same things as you.
  • Local Family Events. The Arthritis Foundation hosts Juvenile Arthritis (JA) Family Education Programs throughout the year to help kids and their families live better with JA. While some events are educational and learning experiences, there are others that are social, interactive and fun in a safe environment where JA families can relax, network and spend time with each other. The greatest benefit of these programs is getting to meet others who are dealing with similar issues, who share some of the same feelings, experiences and concerns.
  • The Kids’ Summit. Part of the Arthritis Foundation’s annual Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C., the Kids’ Summit allows kids with arthritis and their families converge from all over the nation to raise awareness about the disease’s unacceptable impact. After training in a fun, educational atmosphere, families meet face to face with their congressional representatives about funding for arthritis research and other important issues such as addressing the serious shortage of pediatric rheumatologists and the burden of costly arthritis medications.
  • Arthritis Foundation Special Events. Just about everywhere, the Arthritis Foundation hosts fun events that raise awareness and funds for arthritis research and the many programs and services we offer. They’re great places to make a difference as well as meet other JA families! These events include the Arthritis Walk for a Cure and the Jingle Bell Run.
